SCOTTSDALE, AZ (April 17, 2018) – A crowd of Northcentral University (NCU) faculty, alumnae and students gathered April 17
to welcome Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane and celebrate the university’s recent achievements, highlighted by a newly expanded
Scottsdale Service Center. The ceremony’s ribbon-cutting marked the official move-in of 86 NCU employees to the new 28,000
square feet of fully built-out space, which is located on the second floor above the university’s original offices on
East Hartford Drive at the Scottsdale Landing office center in Northeast Scottsdale.
The new office space allows for an estimated 125 new positions that are expected to be created at the Scottsdale Service
Center over the next several years, based on current projections.
The Service Center’s expansion reflects a larger growth story for the private, online university, which focuses on graduate
student education. Since its accreditation in 2003, the school has leveraged its one-to-one learning model (one student
to one faculty member) to provide life-changing degrees in the fields of business, technology, education, health sciences,
psychology, and marriage and family therapy.
In recent years, this unique model, paired with a global reach through its platform, has inspired exponential growth of its
schools and programs, as well as student, faculty and staff headcount. In addition to the Scottsdale Service Center expansion,
the University recently re-signed the lease for its San Diego headquarters with an option to add more square footage.
"There’s been much to celebrate recently, and today’s event was an opportunity to do so with our wonderful partner, the City
of Scottsdale," said NCU President George A. Burnett. "We’re looking forward to continuing to build NCU’s presence as
an institution of higher learning and economic partner here in Scottsdale and in San Diego, while providing innovative
and valued programs to students around the globe."
Immediate plans to further that mission start with a phased addition of new staff in roles that range from enrollment advisers
to information technology specialists to academics, in order to support NCU’s now 50 degree programs and approximately
10,000 currently enrolled students globally.
"Scottsdale continues to be an economic environment that attracts and retains investment from innovators across many sectors,"
said Scottsdale Mayor W.J. "Jim" Lane. "NCU is a global university, with students in dozens of countries around the world,
We’re please they’ve chosen Scottsdale to service those students."
Students and alumnae in attendance were enthusiastic about the expansion of NCU, which was established nearly 20 years ago
on the premise that technology offered new potential in making higher education accessible to more people.
Last week, NCU announced seven new degree programs including Doctor of Criminal Justice, Master of Legal Studies, Doctor
of Health Administration, Master of Health Administration, Doctor of Philosophy in Instructional Design, Doctor of Education
in Instructional Design, and Master of Science in Instructional Design.
"It’s wonderful to take this moment to reflect on our past and continued success," added NCU President Burnett. "We aren’t
stopping here. There’s a lot more excitement in store for our incredible students and faculty, and we truly believe today’s
announcement positions us for future growth."
