Web.com to Anchor SkySong Development Expansion

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona - Web.com, a leading provider of Internet services and online marketing solutions for small businesses, is relocating and becoming the anchor tenant at the new SkySong 4 following its 2016 acquisition of a previous tenant in the development, Yodle.

Web.com’s new space will be used primarily for sales, administration and local executives. With Web.com’s presence, SkySong 4 is now 72 percent leased. With its nearly 200 employees in Scottsdale (and 3,500 company-wide), Web.com will occupy 36,503 square feet in SkySong 4.

“Web.com embodies the vibrancy that exists at SkySong,” said Sharon Harper, President & CEO of Plaza Companies, the master developer of the SkySong project. “What started with Yodle as an impressive up-and-coming company has grown significantly during its relatively short time in Scottsdale. We’re thrilled to be able to witness their success and growth and welcome their increased innovative presence on the campus.”

“Our presence at SkySong will help Web.com continue to expand our mission to provide online marketing solutions to small business owners and become part of the culture of innovation at the heart of this exciting project,” said Brian Wright, vice president of communications for Web.com.

“We’re pleased that Web.com has chosen to grow its existing operations in our community,” said Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane. “Skysong is an incredible site for young companies to grow their business. Watching companies like Yodle mature into global leaders in their industry is a testament to the success forged by our partnership with ASU and Plaza Companies to develop this campus into the regional hub for entrepreneurship and small business it has become today.”

Sethuraman “Panch” Panchanathan, Senior Vice President for Knowledge Enterprise Development at Arizona State University — which is responsible for advancing research, entrepreneurship, innovation and economic development — said that Web.com’s presence is proof that the SkySong vision is continuing to become a reality.

“Since its inception, SkySong has been helping companies grow and prosper as they innovate,” Panchanathan said. “Yodle was one of the most successful examples of this spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, and we are pleased to see them now become part of

Web.com and become the anchor tenant at SkySong 4, and continue to grow with the project.”

The Lee & Associates team of Craig Coppola, Andrew Cheney and Gregg Kafka represented SkySong’s collective ownership in the transaction. Web.com was represented by the Cushman & Wakefield team of Peter Trivelas, Dev Gupta and Gary Ceder.

SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center is home to a global business community that links technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, and education to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders of the knowledge economy.

SkySong is a 42-acre mixed use development designed to:

  • Create an ecology of collaboration and innovation among high-profile technology enterprises and related researchers
  • Advance global business objectives of on-site enterprises
  • Raise Arizona’s profile as a global center of innovation through co-location of ASU’s strategic global partners
  • Create a unique regional economic and social asset

Companies located at SkySong enjoy a special relationship with Arizona State University, which has more than 90,000 students studying across four metropolitan Phoenix campuses, in Lake Havasu and online. ASU is one of the largest public universities in the nation, with the majority of its students attending its campus in Tempe, Arizona, less than three miles from SkySong.

In addition to locating its own innovative research units at the center, through ASU’s on-site operations, tenant companies have a single point of contact for introductions to researchers, faculty and programs to address their specific needs.
