New online tool helps Scottsdale businesses “SizeUp” the competition

Scottsdale’s new economic development website features SizeUp, a free online tool that lets local businesses instantly access competitive benchmark, demographic, cost-of-business and other industry data.
ChooseScottsdale.com is the city’s economic development center online. The site features a new mobile-friendly design and a host of new tools and features to help local and prospective businesses.
Central to the site is SizeUp for Local Business Intelligence – an innovative online database available for the first time in Arizona. SizeUp super-crunches millions of data points from public and private sources to provide four main business resources:
• Performance benchmarking: See how a specific business "sizes up" by comparing its point-by-point performance to all competitors in its industry in the region
• Competitive assessment: Map where competitors, customers, and suppliers are located to determine where to better serve customers.
• Best places to advertise: Identify areas with the highest revenue for an industry, the most underserved markets, and filter for the best location based on demographic and business characteristics.
• Demographic analysis: View an interactive map of demographic, labor, and customer expenditure data in the Scottsdale area.
An in-person demonstration of SizeUp will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Eureka Loft in the Civic Center Library (3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd.). Businesses are encouraged to attend to learn how this tool can help them succeed in Scottsdale.
“We are here to help local businesses succeed,” said Danielle Casey, Scottsdale’s economic development director. “SizeUp is a great tool to help with that, and we are thrilled to offer it along with all of the other resources available at ChooseScottsdale.com.”
Scottsdale’s economic development department assists with all aspects of business growth and attraction including site selection, labor market research, project development, announcements and everything in between. Learn more or connect with the city’s experts at ChooseScottsdale.com.
